Ketchikan
Another Beautiful Day
25.05.2026 - 25.05.2026
16 °C
Arrival to Ketchikan was around 11:00 a.m., so a leisure breakfast was in store for us, then a stroll on Deck 3 Outdoor Promenade to get in some steps and watch the arrival. WOW! The weather was wonderful. There were other ships in port today - Viking, Island Princess and Discovery Princess and us - 4 in total. Our ship docked front and centre of downtown. We did a little stroll through some shops (mostly window shopping) and purchased our ticket for the Lumberjack Show ($45) later in the day.

We headed to Creek Street. Creek Street is a historic, pedestrian-only boardwalk in Ketchikan, built on wooden pilings over Ketchikan Creek. Famous for its colourful architecture and notorious past as a mid-1920s red-light and Prohibition district. It features local boutiques, art galleries, and Dolly's House, which was a famous brothel, back in the day (now a museum). At one end of the broadwalk, there was a fish ladder, which will be very busy once the salmon are running. We did see a seal swimming around in the creek. That was cool.

Back to the ship for a quick lunch and lose one of the clothing layers - too warm! Today's high was around 16 degrees Celsius, which was a pleasant surprise.
Later in the afternoon, it was time for the Lumberjack Show. Every seat was a good seat in the open air theatre. Good fun! Axe throwing, log rolling, log cutting and cheering on your favourite team!

Back to the ship to relax in the glorious sunshine with a cocktail, after walking a bunch of laps on Deck 3 Outdoor Promenade. Great spot with amazing views and even saw planes coming in for landing and taking off from the nearby airport.

All dressed for dinner and headed to the dining room, followed by tonight's show: Solid Gold - Tribute to 70's Music. Breakout the bell-bottoms! The show was fantastic - favourite so far! After dinner, we listened to some live music by the DAM Band in the Ocean Bar before turning in for the night. Clocks go back an hour this evening...so we lose the hour of sleep we gained earlier in the week.
